Innovative Solutions Australia facilitate Indigenous employment programs in partnership with Coles Supermarkets. The First Steps program includes the recruitment of Indigenous Australians, pre-employment training (3-week course) and mentoring support throughout the training phase and 6 months post-placement.

 

The program is designed to not only provide career opportunities, but to create positive life change for the participants. This is achieved by;

  • having a genuine employment placement available for every participant who finishes the training
  • providing self-development training and building confidence
  • providing effective and authentic mentoring services which encompasses the participant’s professional and home life.

Innovative Solutions will soon be facilitating a First Steps program in the Kalgoorlie region to fill vacancies at Coles Supermarkets, Coles Express and Liquorland.

 

We are seeking a Program Mentor to provide the important Mentoring component of the program. This position will be subcontracted to either an organisation or individual. Innovative Solutions Australia will support the Mentor with their reporting requirements and provide advice and guidance throughout the program.

 

Contract payments (GST EX);

  • $2,250 on completion of training
  • Training phase (6 months) – $800 per week
  • Bonus/outcome payments are also made at 3 and 6 months for each participant retained in employment.

 

Operational requirements (to be provided by the Mentor);

  • An ABN.
  • A laptop with access to excel, a web browser, email and word.
  • A mobile phone.
  • A vehicle/license.
  • Insurance;
    • Public Liability – $10 million
    • Professional Indemnity – $10 million
    • Vehicle

  

Contract delivery requirements;

Information Sessions –

Attend information sessions on the 24th and 25th of January to provide support for applicants.

Training Phase (6th – 24th February 2017) –

  • Participate and work with the facilitators in the First Steps training program from the 6th to the 24th of February.
  • Support the participants through the training, work experience and other activities.
  • Participate in weekly strategy meetings with the stakeholders.
  • Facilitate weekly 1:1 meetings with each participant to deliver KPI results and offer mentoring support.
  • Establish a mentoring plan for each participant (resources provided to complete this task)
  • Attend Diversity training with the Coles Managers.

Post Placement (6 months) –

  • Facilitate scheduled mentoring activities with both the employer and employee (schedule listed below).
  • Provide a high standard of mentoring support for the participants to help them transition into employment, maintain employment and establish healthy, productive and happier lifestyles.
  • Provide support and guidance to the management team of Coles, Coles Express and Liquorland.
  • Provide mentoring reports to the Coles Indigenous Coordinator as per the below schedule.
  • Keep the Coles Indigenous Coordinator appraised of issues as they arise.

As issues can arise after normal work hours, the Mentor will need to be contactable on weekends and after hours.

 

 

Minimum requirement for Post Placement Mentoring phase schedule;

Week 1 – Week 4: Intensive mentoring

  • Face-to-face mentoring at least once a week with each Team member (this can be in-store or outside store)
  • Mentor must contact Store management Team to confirm team member feedback is in fact in line with store feedback.

Week 5 – Week 13: Fortnightly Contact

  • At least 1 phone call to each team member and 1 face-to-face catch up.
  • Mentor must contact Store management Team to confirm team member feedback is in fact in line with store feedback

Week 14 – Week 26:

  • At least 1 phone call to each team member and 1 face-to-face catch up per month.
  • Mentor must contact Store management Team to confirm team member feedback is in fact in line with store feedback

Mentors are to respond to an urgent request for intervention within 24 hours, regardless of what stage of contact they are in at the time.

Week 1 – Week 4: Weekly Reporting

Week 5 – Week 13: Fortnightly Reporting

Week 14 – Week 26: Monthly Reporting
